Hiya guys, Having never bought DLC on a disk, let alone anything preowned i was wonder how this works? Can you buy a preowned copy and still have all the functionality that you would have if you bought it new? Basically i'm after the Point Lookout/Broken Steel disk as a christmas present for someone else, and ive seen it preowned at almost half the price of it new.

But i just want to make sure that it will work for him as i don't want him to be disappointed on christmas morning. I have to admit that I've only ever bought DLC of the Marketplace, this whole concept of it coming on a disk is new to me. If anyone could also tell me how exactly it works, for example how you access the content, that would be great! Thanks in advance.

It's the same DLC as you download from live/psn which doesn't require a disc. So why would this? They could create multiple versions I guess but that would just create many more potential issues. What i mean is that i with standard DLC I can't buy and download DLC and give it to all my friends without them having to pay for it also.

I can see now why disk versions are so popular! ZuluHero wrote: What i mean is that i with standard DLC I can't buy and download DLC and give it to all my friends without them having to pay for it also.

I can see now why disk versions are so popular! Actually, you sort-of can with one friend. Y'see, the DRM is set to work on the machine it's bought on.and. the gamertag (so long as it's signed into Live, natch). That way, if you want to play an XBLA game or DLC with a friend, take your tag to their place, buy it on their 360.

They can still play it when you leave and you can play it so long as you're logged into Live. ZuluHero wrote: yeah, this is exactly what i was talking about when I said it was a major failing on Microsoft’s part. They have effectively limited sales.

It’s even made me think twice about being DLC from the marketplace in future as I can just buy it, ‘download’ it and sell the disk on. Anyway, thanks for all the advice, it’s really made me set my mind at ease!

) It's not a major failing on MS's part, I don't think MS has anything to do with it. It's a choice by the developers. There are more than enough measures in place to prevent people from actually owning the content they buy but it seems that Bethesda is one of the few decent developers out there with a good vision on this. It still has to go through Microsoft's submission process though? They stopped this from happening with retail games being installed to the HDD by requiring the disk in the the drive when the game boots. There is nothing to stop me from buying a DLC disk, installing it, letting 10 of my friends copy it and then trade it in. Anyway, we're going down a route where we could get into a lengthy discussion about.

It seems that this disk will work so that is good. Microsoft and Bethesda's loss is my gain Thanks guys! I lend my oblivion DLC disk to some of my friends, they could just use it. The FO3 disk seems to work in the same way. Have u still got th oblivion disc Yes. I don't buy DLC for full games, I only tend to buy stuff I can actually own.
