Having a terrible time installing the drivers for Hauppauge usb tv tuner. I have successfully installed the hardware on a laptop computer in my house that has exactly the same OS (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit). The hardware is recognized but the drivers do not install properly no matter what technique I try - manufacturer's CD, downloaded drivers from the manufacturer, updating the driver from within the device manager - none of these works properly. I have also tried the update automatically metrhod and the have disk meythod.

The manufacturer has given up and cannot fix the problem. Do I need to clean install the OS again? As you suggested, a fresh install did the trick.

The device installed instantly, no problem. I now have another problem, but that probably doesn't belong on the Microsoft page.

The problem is that when I scan the channels and the FM frequencies, it doesn't find any channels or radio stations! I know the external antenna is working fine because I have a large screen HD TV attached to the same antenna and it receives a beautiful picture and sound on at least 20 channels. The FM antenna I'm using is the little folded dipole that comes with the tuner. FM signals in this area are very strong and a wet noodle ought to pick up at least 25 stations. My stereo (in the same room) has essentially no antenna on it at all and it gets more stations than I can handle so I'm sure it's not a signal strength issue. I'll take that one up with Hauppauge.
